FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What is Priority Health Network?
Priority Health Network is the Mercy of Iowa City Regional
Physician Hospital Organization's (PHO) provider network that
consists of PHO affiliated physicians, Mercy Iowa City, PHO
ancillary providers, and Washington County Hospital.
How do I know if my provider is in-network for my plan?
Go to the link for the Provider Listing on our web site
or you may call the Mercy PHO office at 319-339-3992 (press 1) to
find out if a doctor is considered in-network. As insurance plans
vary, please note that it is ultimately the patient's responsibility
to know if their plan allows them to see a certain provider at the
"in-network" benefit level. If you have any questions regarding
your insurance plan, please contact your Human Resources Department
or your insurance company. In addition, prior to making an
appointment, you may verify with the provider that he/she participates in your specific health
plan.
How do I verify my benefits?
You will need to contact your employer's Human Resources
department or the insurance company who administers or pays your
benefits as each group's plan varies. The PHO is not an insurance
company and does not process medical claims.
Does my plan require a referral?
Please check your benefit book or your Human Resources
Department to see if a referral is required for services according
to your plan. Each employer who utilizes the Priority Health
Network has different benefit levels and the Mercy PHO cannot
direct you with regards to this question (with the exception below);
therefore, it is necessary for you to check your health plan
benefits.
