The Mercy of Iowa City Regional Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) was formed in June of 1994 by Mercy Iowa City and Mercy physicians. The PHO currently includes 160 physicians, Mercy Hospital Iowa City and over 60 ancillary providers. Compassionate care is provided through our community-based physicians and Mercy Hospital. The PHO offers a variety of services, which includes 30 different specialties and a wide array of ancillary services/providers.

The PHO works on behalf of the PHO providers to gain access to health plan enrollees/patients by offering the Priority Health Network (PHN), a provider network to self-insured and insured employers. By establishing a structure and working partnership with contracted employer customers, the PHO can offer high quality, cost effective health care services, personable and convenient care, and assistance and analysis to employers and their employees on health care and health plan related issues.

The PHO is governed by a 12 member Board of Directors, and has three staff members. The PHO also includes two committees that report to the Board of Directors - the Professional Services Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee.
